"Wedding Photos Before the Wedding"

This was a first for me and I loved the idea! Why not take some of the stress out of your wedding day by getting some of the photography done ahead of time? That's what I love about Nick and Kathy. They are smart, practical, organized and efficient; four of my favorite characteristics! The hard part about this kind of session is that you can't share the photos until AFTER the wedding. Patience is not one of my best characteristics, and in this case I had to wait three whole months! That was hard! At least they let me share one photo ahead of time. You may recognize their silhouettes from my Facebook page. It's one of my all-time favorites!

Nick and Kathy are both from Sacramento, but they didn't have a special place in mind to take the photos. What I love about my job is getting to know clients and working on ideas together so we can get amazing results. I did an engagement shoot with them in Clarksburg first, so I knew they would be up for anything.   They let me choose the locations and I thought it would be fun to drive around to several places and spread their love city-wide.

We started at a pretty bridge in the Pocket with a cool tunnel underneath. In the heart of the Sacramento we found a mix of religion, history and character. We took some gorgeous photos outside a Catholic church with the most beautiful lighting in the courtyard. Across the street we walked around historic Sutter's Fort. To end the night we found a fun firehouse with brick and bright red doors. A fire engine actually pulled up right as the two were kissing in the street. We got a quick shot in front of the fire engine for the fun of it!

It was a romantic, spontaneous and unique way to celebrate their love and I'm so happy I got to be included. I wish these two the best as they begin this new adventure together! I hope for our next photo shoot Kathy will be sporting a cute little bump. ;) Yes, Nick and Kathy, now that you're married you're going to hear the question "when are you going to have kids?" a lot!

Lots of love,

Courtney
